Who can apply?
Normally accept applications from formally constituted organisations. The purposes for which you are applying must be legally charitable and your constitution must allow you to carry out the work you propose. If your organisation is not a registered charity, they may consider you eligible to apply if your constitution establishes you on a not-for-profit basis. This broadly means that profits (surplus) cannot be distributed to the members and that if the organisation is closed down, the assets would be transferred to another organisation established for charitable purposes. Individuals are not eligible to apply under the Open Grants Scheme. Local authorities may be eligible to apply. The Foundation will consider applications from individual pre-schools, schools, out-of-school clubs, supplementary schools, colleges and youth clubs if they demonstrate benefits to the wider community and include partnership working that will result in increasing access to education and learning to all communities and age groups.
