Projects should conserve and enhance diverse heritage or encourage more people to be involved in their heritage or both. Projects should also make sure that everyone can learn about, have access to and enjoy their heritage. Projects can include nature conservation, historic buildings, museum collections, archive collections, spoken history records, cultural traditions, and objects and sites relating to the UK's industrial, transport and maritime history.
The Fund's main programmes include:
Your Heritage £5,000 to £50,000
Heritage Grants £50,000 +
The Fund also has a grant programme called Young Roots which promotes the involvement of young people (13-20 year olds) in their heritage. Applications for this can be between £5,000 and £50,000. Young Roots grants reach new applicants and audiences with exciting and creative projects which are targeted directly at the needs and interests of young people.
