Community Groups, not for profit organisations. To apply to the Main Grants and Flagship schemes, organisations must be enrolled with ENTRUST.
Does the funder require match funder?
Not through the Small Grants scheme. For Main Grants and Flagship projects, a third party funder must provide ten per cent of the gross amount applied for. The website and guidance notes give further information.
Funding Priorities:
- Biffaward is a multi-million pound environment fund managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT), which utilises landfill tax credits donated by Biffa Waste Services. The aim of Biffaward is to support projects that will be of lasting environmental benefit, improve quality of life and foster 'vibrant communities'.
- Funding is directed to projects, which provide and improve public amenities for communities within 10 miles of a Biffa operation. In addition, it funds projects that increase or maintain biodiversity. It also funds projects that increase or maintain biodiversity within 25 miles of a Biffa operation.
The fund offers four levels of support:
Main Grants - Community £5,000 to £50,000 For projects that provide and improve community facilities.
Main Grants - Biodiversity £5,000 to £50,000 For projects that conserve wildlife species and habitats.
Note. An expression of interest form has to be completed for each of the main grant programmes.
The Small Grants Scheme (£250 - £5,000) - for projects that enable communities to improve local amenities and to conserve wildlife and habitats.
Flagship (deadline 1 July 2008) £150,000 to £500,000 For regionally or nationally significant projects which improve biodiversity or cultural buildings.
